When you play golf, do you carry your own clubs or pay a caddy to do it for you? One golf course in Cedar Mountain, North Carolina has decided to differentiate itself from the other local course by offering a unique variety of caddy: llamas!
Llamas are available every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday from 9am to 11am at our Golf Course. Come on out and play a round, or just come by to see the friendly, four legged helpers!

His Invention’s A Swinging Idea
Even if Trevor Schultz weren’t the inventor of the Swing Heeler, he’d likely be a fan.
And he certainly would’ve tried the product that looks like a sci-fi cross between a spatula and a bee stinger and is designed to provide golfers weight resistance on their hind leg, so they stay planted and produce more power during their swings.
“I have tried just about everything,” said Schultz, who played at UC Riverside. “So I guess that would be a reason why I’ve come to the conclusion about the lower body being so important. The fact that I’ve done just about everything is why I’ve really honed in on what’s really important with the proper golf swing: If the lower body works properly, the rest follows along.”
“He was going through a tough time, trying to figure out what he wanted to do with his life,” friend Paul Rothchild, who helped develop the Swing Heeler, said by phone. “We were brainstorming, and he showed me this idea he had, and I said, ‘Well, this is something tangible, this is something you could really make a go of.’ ”
Schultz and Rothchild, who as a prosthetist makes a living developing prosthetics, hunkered down in Rothchild’s Pasadena garage to build one crude prototype after another. Eventually, they brought a model to another prosthetist, Kevin Mohlman. A golfer and biomechanics expert, Mohlman developed the final prototype for the Swing Heeler that Schultz is busy exhibiting at free demos at courses and ranges around the Inland area.

Inventor Seeks Market For Jackets
The technology has been tested and proved sound.
John Locker says all he needs to make his cooling garment successful is for someone such as Oprah Winfrey to wear it around for a few days.
Locker has experimented with the cooling technology for more than six years. He has made vests, jackets and other garments. All perform the same task: Cool the body on even the hottest day.
There’s just one catch. “Engineeringwise, it’s a great success,” Locker said. “Marketing, not so much. Stylewise, it just hasn’t been a hit.
“Everyone who tries them seems to absolutely love them for what they can do,” Locker said, “Some people say they cool them off, but they’re just not cool to wear.
He is working with researchers at Auburn University on the project. His technology is being used to produce capes that cool Auburn football players and covers on greens at Augusta National golf course where the Masters is played.
The University of North Alabama is working with Locker to place covers over soccer goals at the practice field next to Flowers Hall. That will turn the goals into an area where football players can cool down during practices on the artificial turf.
“We probably have a dozen products,” Locker said. “We’re doing a lot of research, and we’re trying to market them. They’ve been hard to get off the ground, though.”
