You always read the power is in the list and you need a contact list to succeed online.

From there you are bombarded with offers to build a list,using a list builder, get a free auto-responder they host for you etc… Those darned traffic thieves are at it again. Yes these FREE auto-responders and list builders are stealing profits and traffic from you.

It works like this, if you don’t own the website and domain name then you are sending traffic to their website. As a result their website gets ranked higher in Alexa and on major search engines like Yahoo and Google. Your join form or lead capture page becomes a gateway to them and shows their ads for free, and in the end if you walk away most of them keep your list of contacts you built.

They own the website and pay the hosting with your traffic.

It get’s worse my friend. See most list builders promise that using them you get to e-mail X number of random members every X number of days. On average you get around 50-100 e-mails a day from other list owners in the system and I am betting you only open 1 in 100 of those messages if that. Most marketers will use a catch all e-mail with a POP 3 email cleaner and just delete all of these messages a couple times a week. May as well be using a non credit safelist. Credit based safelist have a higher open rate than list builders because most list builders offer no reason to actually read any of the e-mails.

You need to invest in hosting and have your own auto responder.

When you own the domain name and have your own website hosting you have control. Your traffic boost your Alexa Rank, your website visitors improve your search engine rankings, and your list belongs to you. Being a double opt in with real information shared and a great gift, people read your newsletter. They don’t have to sift through 50-100 e-mails a day to find it and know that your mailings are not just ads being sent to them.

Explode your list by writing your own free report and then give it away in JV Giveaway events.

See a list builder is OK if it works the way they say you send 5 new members who send 5 and so forth. They build slow because there are thousands of people you are competing with for the same contacts and referrals. Tens of thousands of marketers send countless traffic to get 1-2 sign ups and a total list of 50 or less.

In one Giveaway event I can hand out 300-3,000 free reports and add that many names to my e-mail contact list, have that many visitors to my site, and see the search engines give me thousands of additional visitors to my hosted website. That’s a lot faster than bring 5 and wait for them to bring 5 and there are around 60 of these events a year. Some website owners who have put $5 a month into a good hosting account and maybe $10 for a domain name of their own add over 100,000 new subscribers a year to their list.

If you host your own website and e-zine you can advertise in it, sell advertising in it, or explode it further by putting your post on a blog, sending links to it for the latest edition and make a mint with Google Ads. Imagine a list of 100,000 subscribers, on average 2% open your e-mails and visit your weekly online newsletter blog. That’s 2K visitors a week, eight thousand visitors a month, plus all the traffic you get from RSS feed and search engines because of the public content.

It all starts with a cheap hosting account, a lead capture page, a auto-responder like the ones included in most hosting accounts, and a few minutes once a week. You can spend under $5 a month, under $70 a year total and earn thousands a month with your own online E-zine, or you can continue letting list builders steal your traffic and profits.
