Many business owners are coming to the realization that having a blog is a very powerful tool for their business to have in its corner, but many of them don’t really know how to start a blog or how to make it grow into something great for that matter.

Choose your niche wisely. Decide on a topic for your blog and then deliver your news and information in a fashion that will entice and engage readers. Select your theme well, and make sure it’s something you’re passionate about, as you’ll be married to it day in and day out, constantly sourcing information for content. Also, consider the competition in your genre. The more unique your chosen topic is, the more chance of success you will have.

Your readers are your key to a successful blog. Remember that they all value their time and want to see interesting content. They want this content in small doses so that it’s not taking up too much of their time. They want to see something exciting, valuable, and something that makes them want to read more every day.

Check out other blogs within your niche and see how theirs is laid out, what they write about, how many followers they have, any offerings that they include on their site and more. This will not only give you a sense of where about you should be but it will also give you a chance to join their blogs in order to build your community.

I have seen sites offer $20 per thousand visitors but when 1 million visitors are ordered the price is just $2 per thousand. A group of bloggers who enter a co-op buy their traffic in bulk each paying a lower price and getting more visitors for every dollar spent. Following the numbers above a price of $20 can either get 1,000 visitors or 10,000 visitors for the same $20 based on choosing between a group co-op and doing it on your own.

• Branding. Much like the authority site designation branding comes from having thousands of websites pointing to your blog for advice and more related content. Authority site happens when a search engine gives special attention to your site where branding and name repetition is how the public perceives your blog. When a visitor has seen your blog recommended on thousands of other sites they are more apt to read your post, subscribe to your feed, and click on your cash paying links. A good consumer report works similar to what happens with branding. When a consumer group give the thumbs up on a product the link to the site that sells the product stands a far greater chance of resulting in a sale. If you are seen as an expert and say buy this product to solve that problem then people will follow the link and buy. Can you say affiliate commissions?

Again this is a viral promotion system so let’s take a look at how viral marketing is accomplished.

A prime example would be a viral e-book. The original author will write the book and include links that can be re-branded to your links in order to earn cash or traffic. They give it away to people who give it away to others and the end result is millions of people giving away the same e-book and the original author getting hundreds of thousands of monthly visitors for free.

Likewise these viral traffic sites where you visit 7 pages and get the code from those pages so you can add your site at the top of the list. In this case 7 other sites are visited, when you give your site away 6 other sites and your get visited and as the people you bring in promote their site your site moves down the list until it falls off 7 levels later.

Blogs when plugged into the content sharing system where syndication of your post happens on other blogs works much the same way. When you post appear on Joe’s blog and post from Joe’s blog appear on Mary’s then Mary’s post are carried by Phillip, your post go instantly out on all of the above blogs even if you have only met Joe.

In the end, make sure you are truly opening up and sharing with your readers. They want to read something and learn something on your blog that they have never seen anywhere else. Provide them with some insight, helpful tips, advice on various matters and more.
